Find the Suspect · Effective 28 October 2026
Find the Suspect is a detective game made by Xuan Tung Ngo ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
The short version
Find the Suspect has no sign-up and shows no ads. Game progress stays on your device. If you submit a sketch, the app sends it to our judge server with the case number and a random anonymous user ID. The judge sends the sketch and suspect picture to an AI service. We do not store submitted sketches on our server.
Tracking and app measurement
On iOS, versions with tracking support ask for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt after the first screen is ready. If you allow tracking and Adjust is configured, we use Adjust to measure which ads bring players to the app and to improve our advertising. This can link app activity with data from other companies' apps and websites for advertising measurement. The app itself shows no ads.
After the permission result is known, configured Adjust measurement can start with either answer. It records installs, sessions, and app activity using an Adjust identifier, vendor-scoped identifier, IP address, and app and device technical data. If you decline or tracking is restricted, the SDK uses its limited, non-consented data path without IDFA, and the app disables Adjust partner sharing. If you allow tracking, the SDK can also use IDFA and enable advertising partner sharing. We do not send your sketches to Adjust.
We can send the Adjust identifier to RevenueCat to connect subscription activity with our app analytics. Advertising partner sharing depends on tracking permission. The app checks permission before measurement resumes when it returns to the foreground, including after changes in Settings. If the permission service fails or its result is unknown, measurement stays off until a later successful check. These choices do not affect games, purchases, or restores. Removing permission does not delete past provider records. Versions without these services keep Adjust off.
Information stored on your device
The app saves your game progress on your device, so you can continue later. This includes which cases you solved and your verdicts.
- This information stays on your device.
- You can delete your progress at any time in Settings → Reset all progress. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Sketches you submit
Before your first submission, the app asks for permission to send your sketch to Google's Gemini AI through OpenRouter. If you select Not now, the sketch is not sent. If you select Continue, the app remembers your choice for later submissions. The server compares your sketch with the suspect and sends back a verdict.
- To make the comparison, the server sends the sketch and the case's suspect picture to an AI model through OpenRouter. The model is run by Google. They process the sketch only to return the result. They may keep it for a short time for security and abuse prevention, under their own privacy terms.
- We do not save your sketch, and we do not write it to our logs.
- The app signs in anonymously with Firebase Authentication (Google), which creates a random user ID. We use it to limit sketch submissions and to identify your subscription access with RevenueCat. It is not linked to your name or email, and we do not ask for them.
- Like any web server, Google Cloud / Firebase, which runs our judge server, can record technical data, such as your IP address and the time of the request, for security and to keep the service working. We do not use this data for any other purpose.
Do not draw personal information, such as names or contact details, in your sketches.
Subscriptions
Apple processes subscription payments. We do not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat processes purchase receipts, product identifiers, subscription status, the anonymous Firebase user ID, and app and device technical data to verify purchases, restore access, and provide the paid Case Files.
RevenueCat and Apple keep purchase records under their own retention requirements. Resetting game progress or deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings. Restore purchases is available in the app.
RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy. Contact us about deletion of app-linked subscription information. Some purchase records may need to remain for legal, accounting, or fraud prevention reasons.
App updates and error reports
Expo Updates checks for app updates and downloads them for a later launch. Update requests include a random installation identifier, app and runtime version information, platform, and request data such as IP address. A request can also include a short report of a previous fatal app error. Expo uses this information to deliver compatible updates and diagnose update failures. We do not use it for advertising tracking.
Information we do not collect
The app does not request your name, email address, contacts, photo library, or location access. Advertising identifiers are used only with tracking permission as explained above.
How long we keep information
- Sketches: we do not store them. They exist on our server only while the verdict is made.
- Anonymous user ID: stored in Firebase Authentication. The app keeps this ID between launches, for sketch submission limits and verified subscription access. It is not linked to a name or email address by the app.
- Technical request data (such as IP address and time): kept by Google Cloud for a limited time for security, under Google's retention rules.
- Update data and error reports: processed by Expo under its retention rules to deliver updates and diagnose failures.
- App measurement data: Adjust and RevenueCat retain app analytics records under their privacy and retention rules. With tracking permission, configured advertising partners can also receive measurement data. Removing permission stops advertising tracking after the next permission check, while limited app analytics can continue. Contact us to request deletion of past records.
Your choices and deleting your data
- You choose when to submit a sketch. If you do not want a sketch to be sent, do not tap Call the lineup.
- You can decline tracking or change your choice in device settings without losing access to games, purchases, or restores.
- Deleting the app deletes its local progress. This does not delete provider purchase records or cancel an active subscription.
- To ask us to delete your anonymous user ID, or to ask any question about your data, email us at the address below. We reply within 30 days.
Third parties
We do not sell your information. Adjust provides app measurement with a limited data path after ATT denial. With tracking permission, it can also share data with configured advertising measurement partners. See Adjust's privacy policy. Google Firebase and Google Cloud provide authentication and the judge server. RevenueCat verifies subscription receipts and access using the same anonymous Firebase ID and can receive the Adjust identifier for app analytics. It does not receive your sketches. Expo provides app updates and related error reporting; see Expo's privacy policy. OpenRouter and Google's AI model process submitted sketches to return a verdict, subject to their own privacy and retention terms. The anonymous user ID is used by Firebase and our judge server; our code does not include it in the AI model request.
Apple processes your download and any App Store account information under Apple's privacy policy.
